Alma Language & Literacy specializes in helping multilingual children improve their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills - in both English and Spanish. We are dedicated to supporting your child in finding connections between their languages and cultures. By working alongside parents and teachers, our goal is to ensure that robust communication and effective literacy instruction are accessible to all children.
Jessica Carrizo, M.S. CCC-SLP is a bicultural speech therapist with extensive experience supporting multilingual children with complex communication profiles. She is passionate about treating multilingual children with childhood apraxia of speech, dyslexia, and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices.

After years of serving children in the public schools, she is also equipped to help parents advocate for the IEP supports that their child needs to learn and thrive.

Jessica is of Cuban-Argentinian decent and she acknowledges and understands the differences among Spanish dialects. As she grew up learning English, she experienced first language attrition - the loss of her first language while learning her second language - and now she helps bilingual children with disabilities maintain lasting bilingualism.

Alma Language & Literacy provides in-person therapy to children in Davis and Woodland and travels to provide Independent Educational Evaluations in Yolo, Sacramento, Solano, and San Joaquin counties.

Our clinic sessions combine systematic instruction with play activities that will make your child love the learning process! Online therapy may be an option for older children with childhood apraxia of speech through a teletherapy platform.
